Petra was an amazing principal for the day at Jordan! She kept Mrs. McLaughlin on schedule with a busy agenda filled with classroom observations, department check ins and unexpected tasks throughout the day. Ms. P felt that all the students were demonstrating on task behavior so they will be rewarded with donut holes in the near future. Thank you Petra for your assistance today!

Mrs. Dodson pulled her usual tricks and tried to get some gift cards, a kiln to fire her ceramics, a candy machine and of course, a raise. Ms. P felt that a high five would satisfy her laundry list and Mrs. Dodson walked away ‘happy’.

She will have to follow up on Mrs. Dodson’s report of custodial staff complaints regarding “glitter everywhere” when cleaning her hallway. A debrief is scheduled for a later date.

Today is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary!

Father, the image of the Virgin is found in your Church. Mary had a faith that your Spirit prepared and a love that never knew sin, for you kept her sinless from the first moment of her conception. Trace in our actions the lines of her love, in our hearts her readiness of faith. Prepare once again a world for your Son who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen!

meditated on Romans 12:9–18 and were reminded that when it comes to friendships, God calls us to:

💛 Do good and not harm — even to those who are different from us.
🤝 Share in the ups and downs with our friends.
😊 Be kind to everyone (yes… everyone).
🌟 Remember that every person is valuable.
👀 Look for the good in others — it’s always there.

And above all…
❤️ Kindness is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give.

Several members of the Jordan Catholic School Student Leaders brought some Christmas joy to the school by decorating the school's Christmas tree by the main office. May the tree and the nativity shine the joy and light of the season to everyone who enters our school.

Thank you to everyone who helped “stuff the turkey” last week. Altogether, we raised $1,471.75. This will allow our EarlyAct Club to purchase Christmas gifts for about 13 children in need this year. Way to go, Jaguars! 💙💛

Some of our preschool students had a visit from Ms. Melissa with WQPT PBS on Wednesday and participated in an engaging and meaningful learning experience. They were also surprised with a swag bag that included the book that was read to them, a sticker with some of the network characters, and a Daniel Tiger headband! Thank you WQPT PBS!

Mrs. Stear's 6th-grade Literature class was filled with writing inspiration today, thanks to a fantastic guest speaker. Students currently immersed in Memoir writing had a great virtual visit from Dr. Lily Simmons, Digital Operations Manager for the University of Pennsylvania Press in Philadelphia, and a lifelong friend of Mrs. Stear.

Dr. Simmons shared invaluable insights into the publishing world, detailing the steps required to get written work published and giving the class a peek into her daily tasks as a professional writer and editor.

The best part? Dr. Simmons shared a hilarious personal memoir titled "The Great Escape of 1997," detailing a shared childhood memory with Mrs. Stear where they, inspired by Home Alone, drew a map and planned a detailed escape from daycare! Such fun memories connecting writing to real life! ✍️

Mr. Baresel's 6th-grade class raced against each other to figure out hieroglyphic rules using the Rosetta Stone, an ancient artifact that provided the key to deciphering hieroglyphics, the formal writing system of ancient Egypt. The Rosetta Stone contains the same decree in three scripts, including hieroglyphics and ancient Greek, allowing scholars to finally understand the word-based and alphabetic symbols. Our students had a blast tackling this exciting challenge and getting hands-on with history!

Mr Baresel's 7th grade class learned about the American surprise victory at Trenton in December of 1775 from General George Washington himself. The students examined his battle plans, saw what his advisors saw and learned about how the great gamble on Christmas Day 1775 led to America's greatest victory of the War for Independence.
