Mr. Baresel’s 6th grade social studies students put their engineering skills to the test by rebuilding Trajan’s Column! The class competed to see whose pillar could withstand the weight of a heavy textbook. In a display of ancient architectural strength, the winning design successfully held up a staggering 5 textbooks!

Kindergarten ABC Countdown to Summer continued with "Tt" is for "Titanic. Big thanks to Ms. P. who shared a story, artifacts, & a wealth of knowledge of the Titanic.
While it took a decade and half, finally it was achieved! Sister Mary Joseph's homeroom all scored 100% (17/17) on Mr. Baresel's Ancient Rome Vocabulary Quiz. They were rewarded with a Trophy of Achievement! #theimpossibledream

⛳️ Fore! We had a spectacular day on the greens at the annual Jordan Catholic School Golf Outing held this past Saturday, May 9th, at the beautiful Highland Springs Golf Course. It was a perfect day of community, competition, and support for our students.

Jack H. Achs, Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Army, visited the 5th-grade students at Jordan Catholic School to present “Respecting Our Flag.” Students learned about the history of the American flag, what it symbolizes, and even had the opportunity to learn how to properly fold it. It was a meaningful and hands-on experience that helped students gain a deeper appreciation for our nation’s flag and the respect it represents. Thank you Colonel Achs for your service!

Our 6th graders in Mr. Baresel’s class have been traveling across the globe—without even leaving their desks!
To dive deeper into their unit in South Asia, students explored the history and architectural beauty of the Taj Mahal. But they didn't just read about it; they became artists themselves. Using the traditional technique of Indian Batik, students designed and created stunning vibrant representations of this iconic landmark. Batik is an ancient "wax-resist" dyeing technique used to create intricate patterns and designs on fabric (usually cotton or silk).

The students in Mr. Baresel's 8th-grade History class have been channeling the 1940s! They recently stepped into the shoes of wartime illustrators to create authentic World War II propaganda posters, bringing history to life.
From stirring calls to join the Army, to vibrant tributes encouraging citizens to enter the workforce, these projects capture the spirit of the era. Each poster highlights the determination of the home front as they worked to support the Allies and smash the Axis powers!
