Dear Jordan Catholic School Families,

We hope you are all enjoying your summer! Our summer staff is hard at work preparing the school for our students' return in August.

A couple of updates on some of the summer projects:

Bathrooms in the elementary and middle school hallway have all been updated with plumbing fixtures, lighting, new stalls and a new floor in the middle school bathrooms. This project was made possible due to generous support from our annual appeal and the support of Tim Thompson and Nick Thompson with Thompson Tin. We also replaced an outdated video surveillance operating system and cameras as part of our secure and safe environment initiatives. Thank you to our custodial team of Mr. Hessman, Mr. DeBisschop, Mrs. Young and Mrs. Dusenberry as well as our technology team of Austin Finley and Mrs. Punkiewicz for their hard work in making sure these projects were completed successfully.

Our main office is also working hard to transition some of our positions with Mrs. Neece as our new Business Manager and Mrs. Todd as our new front office secretary. Mrs. Armetta remains on staff this year on a part time basis and Mrs. Dusenberry will act as our school nurse along with other duties.

Office hours are 8-12 Monday through Thursday through the remainder of the summer. Please let us know if you need to visit outside of those hours.

We are pleased to welcome new 5th grade and 6th grade teachers! Mrs. Lisa Brandel returns to Jordan from her most recent position at Alleman High School. Mrs. Brandel taught Jr. High Math at Jordan prior to her position at Alleman. We are pleased to have her return to our school as a 6th grade teacher. Mrs. Laura Nelson will join our faculty this school year. She previously worked at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy and most recently for Hampton Schools. She is an experienced, licensed teacher and she is thrilled to return to a Catholic school environment.

New or shifted faculty and staff members for the 26-27 school year include the following:

Mrs. Barrett will teach preschool.

Mrs. Egan will teach morning AND afternoon PreKindergarten.

Mrs. Moens will be our librarian, speech intervention support and lunch supervision.

Mrs. Nelson will teach 5th grade Math and Science.

Mrs. Brandel will teach 6th grade Math, Science and Religion.

Rock Island Labor Day Parade - Marching through 250 Years of American History!

The 2nd annual Labor Day parade is scheduled for Monday, September 7th. Join the march as we celebrate our community - and the United States' 250th anniversary.

Staging for the parade begins at 8:30 am in the area around Washington Junior High School located at 33rd Street and 18th Avenue. The parade starts promptly at 930 am and travels west along 18th Avenue, turns south at 24th Street, then west on 25th Avenue, and disbands into the Rock Island High School parking lots. The route is two miles long and takes 90 minutes to march. Home and School organizes this event and updates will be sent to you as we receive them. Plan to join us walking and representing Jordan in this year's parade!
