Hello Jaguars! Spring is here, bringing new beginnings and excitement as we prepare for Easter. I sat down with our principal, Mrs. McLaughlin, to hear her thoughts on this special season at our school.
To celebrate the meaning of Easter at Jordan, our students attend Stations of the Cross in addition to weekly Sacraments. Upcoming Adoration and the Hallow Pray 40 challenge are more ways we are guided in daily prayer during the Lenten season. Venerable Fulton J. Sheen’s Stations of the Cross is a profound devotional work focusing on the redemptive love of Christ and the spiritual necessity of embracing daily crosses. His meditations have guided us in the stations of the cross this year to really reflect and show gratitude for all of Christ's mercies. Mrs. Mclaughlin wants us to remember that the hope that comes along with Christ’s resurrection is a cornerstone of our faith.
As we enter spring and prepare for Easter, Mrs. McLaughlin would like students to carry a message with them to attend Mass regularly, engage in prayer and reflection, participate in the sacraments, serve others, study Scripture, embrace community, and practice gratitude. Saying that, “In doing so, may you experience the fullness of Christ's resurrection in your life and be filled with the joy of Easter.”
Confirmation is a cherished event for the 8th graders who are receiving it this spring. They have been fortunate enough to receive weekly visits from Father Gary to help them prepare for this important sacrament of initiation. The students, under the guidance of Sister Mary Joseph, have been working hard this school year to strengthen their bond with their parish and enhance baptismal grace. The tradition of having both Father Joe in the past and now Father Gary is such a blessing.
Mrs. McLaughlin mentioned that the end-of-year celebrations are always a blast, especially Physical Fitness Day and the Walkathon. She also highlighted Teacher Appreciation Week and the upcoming 8th-grade graduation as something to look forward to as we enter the final quarter of the school year. She emphasized how important it is to have fun while still keeping up with our schoolwork. She encourages us to set a simple spring goal this season to “Try to always do your best by attending school and saying, 'It is going to be a great day!'" each and every day. Inspired by “Every Day Counts!” by Jennifer Mayares which includes a list of things we can stating, “Emmy’s Morning Checklist- Brush your teeth, Eat a healthy breakfast, Pack your backpack, Get dressed, Put your shoes on, and say “I’m ready for a great day!” Following these goals can guide us in personal growth and practicing healthy habits.
Fun Fact: Mrs. McLaughlin’s favorite Easter treat is Jelly Bellies, especially the Easter mix!
Spring is a season of growth, faith, and fresh starts—let's make the most of it, Jaguars!
