Hello Jaguars! Are you excited for your short Easter break? I know I am. We know we get a few days off because of these religious holidays, but why?

First in Holy Week, there is Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday takes place on the Sunday before Easter. It is celebrated by Christians to mark Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. In the church services you will often see blessed palm branches, chanting processions, and readings of the Passion.

Next, there is Holy Thursday. Holy Thursday honors the Last Supper, where Jesus instituted the Eucharist and washed his disciples' feet to show humble service.

Third, we have Good Friday. Good Friday commemorates the death of Jesus on the cross at Calvary. It signifies the sacrifice Jesus made for humanity.

Finally, we have Easter Sunday. Easter Sunday is when Jesus rose from the dead. We celebrate by going to church, and many families have a special dinner that night; they might also color eggs and make fun Easter baskets! That is all you need to know about Holy Week.

Happy Easter!
