For over 20 years, the IESA Scholar Attitude Award has recognized scholar-athletes from IESA divisions across the state. The IESA Scholar Attitude Award honors those students who have maintained a high-academic standard while pursuing participation in their school community through IESA activities. One winner is selected from each of the 15 divisions, based on the following criteria:
- Student nominee must be in 8th grade.
- The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for both their 7th and 8th grade school years.
- Essay: A typed essay of 500 words or less titled "The Value of Sportsmanship and the Lessons I have Learned from Participating in Athletics and Activities."
- During each year of their two-year junior high school tenure, the student must have participated in a minimum of one Illinois Elementary School Association sponsored activity.
- The student must have demonstrated outstanding citizenship during their junior high school tenure, and provide examples of how they have made an impact in areas other than athletics and activities.
- The student must get two letters of recommendation from school staff.

We are pleased to announce the 2025 IESA Scholar Attitude Award winner from Division B, our very own, Molly Short!

Molly excels both as a dedicated athlete and a bright student. More than her achievements, Molly is known for her consistent kindness and respect towards everyone she meets. Coaches and teachers praise Molly's positive attitude, her support for teammates, and her academic diligence. Genuine compassion shines through in her daily interactions, making her an inspiration.
