Ms. Brianne Marriott

Jordan Position:
Preschool/Resource

What is special about what I do?
Growing up I had many teachers that made large impacts on my life. Whether it was through learning in the classroom, teaching me manners, or helping me learn lesson about faith, they all were instrumental to my successes growing up. As a pre-school teacher I have the opportunity to influence the spiritual, intellectual, and social development of young children. The impact that I make on my students will build the ground work for their future in their educational experiences.

What is special about Jordan?
I feel Jordan is the right place for me to start my teaching career. Growing up in Moline and having the opportunity to attend Seton and Alleman, I can see the impact a Catholic education has on children and the benefits of building the Catholic faith. The faculty and staff at Jordan are also wonderful people to work with. From the day I interviewed they have been kind, helpful, and enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with me.

What am I most looking forward to this school year?
I am looking forward to starting my career as an educator at Jordan Catholic School. I am excited to meet all of my students and build relationships with them and their families. I am looking forward to watching each student grow and develop throughout the school year, as I am sure I will do the same.

Teaching Philosophy:
I believe an important action a teacher can take to support the learning of all the students is a positive attitude. When I teach, I strive to remain positive and enthusiastic about learning new material throughout all of the subject areas. I also feel that it is necessary to introduce concepts and principles at different levels of complexity so that they are meaningful to students at varying levels of development and to students with diverse needs. Showing the students I believe in them by providing optimistic feedback when they are working hard is just one way of having an encouraging and positive attitude. If students struggle with new material, I work to stay positive and express to them how their continual effort will help them improve and excel.

The belief that all students can learn is something that every teacher should live by and show through their continual efforts in the classroom. At the start of each school year, I will support learning by establishing expectations, routines, and procedures. Allowing time for these skills to be learned helps for each school day to run smoothly and productively. As the days pass, the students become experts at following the rules, procedures, and expectations. Students will understand what is expected of them every day. Keeping them in a daily routine will help them as they grow to manage their time more wisely.
